QIAamp DNA Blood Midi Kit (20)

From QIAGEN, this kit provides silica-membrane-based purification of genomic, mitochondrial, and viral DNA from whole blood and other body fluids, including plasma, serum, bone marrow, lymphocytes, platelets, cultured cells, swabs, and buccal cells [S3]. Designed for manual processing by centrifugation or vacuum on a spin column, it accepts sample volumes of 0.3–2 ml [S3]. The kit delivers DNA sized from 200 bp to 50 kb, yields of 20–60 µg, and DNA recovery of up to 94.5% [S3]. Elution is performed in 100–400 µl of buffer, with a typical run time of approximately 55 minutes [S3].

Purified DNA is ready for downstream applications such as PCR and Southern blotting, and the workflow avoids alcohol precipitation or organic extraction [S3].
