QIAamp DNA Blood Maxi Kit (10)

A genomic DNA purification kit from QIAGEN, designed for high-yield extraction of genomic DNA from large-volume blood samples, buffy coat, and body fluids using silica membrane technology. The kit processes up to 10 mL of whole blood per preparation and delivers DNA suitable for PCR, qPCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology applications.

The workflow relies on simple centrifugation steps, eliminating the need for organic solvents or precipitation, and accommodates both manual and automated protocols. The kit is optimized for fresh or frozen samples and is reported to provide high molecular weight DNA with minimal degradation. According to the published isolation protocol, the Maxi format is recommended for cell preparations of 3e7 to 1e8 cells, and the procedure uses QIAGEN Protease, Buffer AL, ethanol (96-100%), Buffer AW1, Buffer AW2, and Buffer AE, with centrifugation at 3,750 rpm. DNA is eluted in 700 ul of Buffer AE.
