Description

A prostanoid pathway activator from STEMCELL Technologies that targets the prostaglandin receptors EP1, EP2, EP3, and EP4 and is also reported to inhibit 15-hydroxy PGDH, this crystalline small molecule is supplied at ≥ 98% purity. Identified chemically as 9-oxo-11α,15S-dihydroxy-prosta-5Z,13E-dien-1-oic acid and also known as dinoprostone (CAS 363-24-6), it has the formula C₂₀H₃₂O₅ and a molecular weight of 352.5 g/mol. It binds the four receptor subtypes with reported Ki values of 9.1, 4.9, 0.33, and 0.79 nM, respectively (Abramovitz et al.; Bos et al.). The product is soluble in PBS (pH 7.2) up to 14 mM, in DMSO up to 280 mM, and in absolute ethanol up to 280 mM, and remains stable at -20 °C as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt when protected from prolonged exposure to light.

Published research describes a role in hematopoietic stem cell biology: the molecule is required for the development of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in mice and zebrafish (North et al.) and improves engraftment of mouse HSCs, possibly by increasing homing, survival, and/or self-renewal (Hoggatt et al. 2009; 2013). It also promotes differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells from mouse, macaque, and human embryonic stem cells (Gori et al.; North et al.; Woods et al.), differentiation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells from hematopoietic progenitors (Sinha et al.), and differentiation of Th17 cells from naïve T cells (Boniface et al.). STEMCELL Technologies indicates that this product is for research use only and is not intended for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses unless otherwise stated.
