PAXgene Tissue miRNA Kit (50)

QIAGEN provides the PAXgene Tissue miRNA Kit, designed for purification of microRNA and total RNA from tissues fixed and stabilized in PAXgene Tissue Containers. Using silica-membrane spin-column technology, the kit isolates high-quality total RNA, including miRNA, from human tissue samples, delivering material with an A260/A280 ratio greater than 1.8 and no detectable PCR inhibition.

The kit supports purification of RNA molecules as small as 18 nucleotides, including 5.8S rRNA, 5S rRNA, tRNAs and miRNAs. Recommended input is up to 10 mg from PAXgene Tissue-fixed tissue, or 2–5 sections 10 µm thick from PAXgene Tissue-fixed, paraffin-embedded (PFPE) tissue, with a maximum section size of 15 x 15 mm. Elution is performed in 14–40 µl of low-salt buffer. Each manual centrifugation run takes 70 minutes plus a 15-minute incubation for eight samples, extending to 120 minutes for fibrous tissues.

Purified RNA is suitable for a range of downstream applications, including Northern blot analysis, RT-PCR, quantitative real-time RT-PCR, and microarray analysis. As part of QIAGEN's Go Greener initiative, the kit eliminates hazardous chemicals such as phenol and Triton from the workflow and features optimized packaging with reduced plastic blister thickness.
