Ms Recom TPO, 50 µg

From STEMCELL Technologies, Mouse Recombinant TPO (Thrombopoietin) is a recombinant cytokine used in hematopoietic research. TPO is described as a key regulator of megakaryocytopoiesis and thrombopoiesis both in vitro and in vivo, where it stimulates the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes and has an important role in regulating the level of circulating platelets in vivo. The protein also promotes the survival, self-renewal, and expansion of hematopoietic stem cells and primitive multilineage progenitor cells, and is commonly used alongside cytokines such as stem cell factor (SCF) and Flt3/Flk-2 Ligand in culture systems.

The TPO receptor, c-Mpl, is expressed at all stages of megakaryocytopoiesis, from hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells through to mature platelets. Alternative names listed for the protein include c-MPL ligand, Megakaryocyte colony-stimulating factor, and MGDF. The protein is produced in HEK293 cells and is supplied as a lyophilized preparation after dialysis against phosphate-buffered saline. The manufacturer recommends storage at -80°C.

Specifications include a specific activity of ≥ 5 × 10^5 units/mg, with an EC50 ≤ 2 ng/mL as determined by a cell proliferation assay using MO7e cells. Purity is reported at ≥ 95%, and endotoxin level is measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis at ≤ 0.2 EU/µg protein. The predicted molecular mass is 35 kDa, with an apparent molecular mass of approximately 75 kDa on SDS-PAGE due to glycosylation.
