STEMCELL Technologies offers a Mouse Recombinant SDF-1 alpha (CXCL12) for research applications. The cytokine regulates cell motility, including the homing of hematopoietic stem cells and neutrophils to fetal bone marrow during ontogeny.

Biological activity was determined by the protein's ability to mobilize Ca2+ in CHOK1/Gα15/hCXCR4 cells (human Gα15 and mouse CXCR4 stably expressed in CHO-K1 cells), measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 in the above example is less than 1.5 μg/mL.

Purity was assessed by SDS-PAGE: 2 μg of the recombinant protein was resolved under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. The product supports research workflows such as the immunomagnetic positive selection of human CD34+ cells from fresh whole umbilical cord blood.
