Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, Mouse Recombinant PDGF-BB acts as a mitogen for dermal fibroblasts, glial cells, arterial smooth muscle cells, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. Biological activity is evaluated by its ability to promote proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells, with proliferation quantified after 40 hours of culture via a fluorometric assay.

In the cited example, the EC50 — the effective concentration yielding 50% of maximum proliferation — is 0.25 ng/mL. SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions, followed by Coomassie Blue staining, shows a predicted molecular mass of 24.6 kDa, corresponding to 12.4 kDa per monomer.
