STEMCELL Technologies supplies Mouse Recombinant IL-4, a cytokine that drives immunoglobulin class switching in B cells, mast cell hyperplasia, mucus production, and the differentiation of naïve T cells into Th2 cells.

The biological activity of this recombinant protein was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of HT-2 cells, with cell proliferation measured after 67 hours of culture using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. In the cited example, the EC50 is 3.8 - 5.7 ng/mL. When 1 μg of Mouse Recombinant IL-4 was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining, the protein showed a predicted molecular mass of 13.7 kDa.
