Biological activity is determined by its ability to promote proliferation of human ANBL-6 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay; the EC50 is defined as the effective concentration at which cell proliferation reaches 50% of maximum, and in the cited example is less than 1 ng/mL. For purity assessment, 2 μg of the recombinant protein was resolved on SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
