STEMCELL Technologies supplies Mouse Recombinant IL-21 as a laboratory reagent for immunology research. IL-21 is described as a pleiotropic cytokine that regulates immunoglobulin production and influences the differentiation of the pro-inflammatory Th17 cell population.

Biological activity has been demonstrated by the ability of the recombinant protein to promote proliferation of human ANBL-6 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is less than 1 ng/mL. Product integrity has been verified by SDS-PAGE analysis under reducing and non-reducing conditions, visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
