STEMCELL Technologies Mouse Recombinant IL-2 is a research-use cytokine. IL-2 downregulates immune responses during thymic development and influences the development of regulatory T cells and follicular helper T cells.

Biological activity is measured by the ability of the protein to promote proliferation of CTLL-2 cells, assessed after 3 days of culture using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the protein at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and is 1.12 ng/mL in this assay. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 17.4 kDa, and 1 μg is analyzed by SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions with visualization by Coomassie Blue staining.

The product is designed for use in research areas including immunomagnetic negative isolation of untouched mouse naïve CD4+ T cells, immunomagnetic negative selection of untouched mouse memory CD4+ T cells from single-cell suspensions of mouse splenocytes or other tissues, immunomagnetic negative isolation of untouched mouse T cells, and studies using a hamster (Armenian) monoclonal IgG1 antibody against mouse CD3e.
