This recombinant cytokine induces the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocytic progenitors, supports the maturation of megakaryocytes, and promotes the production of platelets. Biological activity was assessed by the protein's ability to promote the proliferation of B9 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method; in the reported example the EC50 was 107 ng/mL. SDS-PAGE analysis was performed on 1 μg of the protein under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining, with a predicted molecular mass of 19.3 kDa.

The product is stable under normal conditions and should be stored with containers kept tightly closed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place.
