From STEMCELL Technologies, this mouse recombinant interleukin-11 (IL-11) cytokine is part of a portfolio of reagents for immunology and stem cell research. Cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors are small, secreted proteins that affect signaling in a variety of cell types, and STEMCELL's recombinant cytokines are produced under stringent criteria with a guaranteed purity of ≥ 95% and endotoxin levels of ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein, supporting consistency and reproducibility across multiple applications.

According to the manufacturer, IL-11 induces the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocytic progenitors, the maturation of megakaryocytes, and the production of platelets. The biological activity of Mouse Recombinant IL-11 has been tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of B9 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and the EC50 in the reported example is 107 ng/mL. In SDS-PAGE analysis under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions, visualized by Coomassie Blue staining with 1 μg loaded, the protein has a predicted molecular mass of 19.3 kDa.
