This recombinant cytokine from STEMCELL Technologies is Mouse Recombinant IL-11. In research applications, IL-11 induces the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocytic progenitors, supports the maturation of megakaryocytes, and promotes the production of platelets. Biological activity is assessed by measuring the ability of the cytokine to promote proliferation of B9 cells using a fluorometric assay, with an EC50 of 107 ng/mL. SDS-PAGE analysis under reducing and non-reducing conditions visualised by Coomassie Blue staining shows the protein at a predicted molecular mass of 19.3 kDa. The material is classified as a non-hazardous solid according to the Globally Harmonized System and the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), and it is stable under normal conditions; it should be stored in tightly closed containers in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place.
