STEMCELL Technologies Mouse Recombinant IL-1 alpha (IL-1α) is a cytokine supplied for immunology and stem cell research. According to the manufacturer, IL-1α recruits infiltrating cells to a site of injury during necrosis and contributes to angiogenesis during hypoxia.

The biological activity of this mouse recombinant IL-1 alpha was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of D10.G4.1 cells, with cell proliferation measured after 72 hours of culture using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the cytokine at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is 0.00581 ng/mL. Protein integrity was assessed by resolving 1 μg of the product with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions, visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
