From STEMCELL Technologies, this laboratory reagent supports hematopoietic research. The recombinant mouse GM-CSF, expressed in CHO cells, promotes the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitors, as well as the generation of neutrophils, eosinophils, and macrophages.

Biological activity was tested by the ability to promote proliferation of FDCP1 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is less than 50 pg/mL. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 14.2 kDa, and 2 μg was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.

Supplied as a solid powder, the product is stable under normal conditions and is intended for research use only, not for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses unless otherwise stated. The chemical is not considered hazardous by the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200). Containers should be kept tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
