Ms Recom FGF-21, 50 µg

A laboratory reagent supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, this recombinant mouse protein is presented as a solid powder. According to the manufacturer, FGF-21 promotes insulin-independent glucose uptake, lipid accumulation, and insulin production, and inhibits glucose-mediated glucagon release. Biological activity has been tested by the protein's ability to promote proliferation of NIH-3T3 cells in the presence of 1.25 μg/mL mouse Klotho and 10 μg/mL heparin, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method; in the reported example the EC50 is less than 0.5 μg/mL. Purity has been examined by resolving 2 μg of the product on SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions, with visualization by Coomassie Blue staining. The product is intended for research use, including workflows involving serum-free medium for the differentiation of human ES and iPS cells to pancreatic progenitor cells.
