Offered by STEMCELL Technologies, this mouse monoclonal isotype control antibody (Clone MM-30) is supplied PE-conjugated and serves as an isotype-matched negative control for estimating the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. For best results, the isotype control should share the same heavy chain subclass (e.g., IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, or IgM) and light chain (kappa or lambda) as the specific antibody, and when a conjugated antibody is used, the isotype control should be conjugated to the same molecule (e.g., fluorochrome). Proper use of an appropriate isotype control helps confirm the specificity of the antigen-specific antibody and indicates non-specific binding that may result from interactions with Fc receptors or other cell components.

The antibody is of the IgM, kappa isotype and is produced in mouse. According to the manufacturer, Clone MM-30 reportedly recognizes keyhole limpet hemocyanin, with the immunogen described as trinitrophenol + KLH. The clone has been verified for use as an isotype control in flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and immunofluorescence microscopy (surface and intracellular staining). The PE conjugate was prepared under optimal conditions and is at > 85% purity, free of unconjugated PE and unconjugated antibody. The product is formulated in a phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide. It remains stable when stored undiluted at 2 - 8°C; the product should not be frozen and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light.
