Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this mouse IgG3, kappa isotype control antibody (Clone MG3-35) is supplied in a biotin-conjugated format and serves as an isotype-matched control for estimating the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. Ideally, the isotype control should share the same heavy chain subclass and light chain type as the specific antibody being employed, and if a conjugated antibody is used, an isotype control conjugated to the same molecule should be chosen. Use of an appropriate isotype control helps confirm the specificity of the antigen-specific antibody and indicates non-specific binding that may result from binding to Fc receptors or other cell components.

The MG3-35 clone has been verified for assessing non-specific binding to cells in applications such as flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy, including both surface and intracellular staining. Reported applications also include functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot.
