Description

Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this biotin-conjugated isotype control antibody (Clone MPC-11, mouse IgG2b, kappa) is designed to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. Ideally, the isotype control shares the same subclass of heavy chain (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, or IgM) and light chain (kappa or lambda) as the specific antibody in use, and when a conjugated primary antibody is employed, the isotype control should be conjugated to the same molecule such as a fluorochrome. Use of an appropriate isotype control helps confirm the specificity of the antigen-specific antibody and indicates non-specific binding that may result from binding to Fc receptors or other cell components.

The MPC-11 clone has been verified for assessing non-specific binding to cells in flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy applications, including both surface and intracellular staining. Demonstrated flow cytometry uses include human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), human buffy coat nucleated cells, and human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, while immunofluorescence staining has been performed on human embryonic stem (ES) cells. The antibody is available in multiple conjugated formats, including Alexa Fluor 488, APC, biotin, FITC, PE, PerCP-Cy5.5, and unconjugated. Supported applications include ELISA, flow cytometry, functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot, with the host species being mouse and the research area being immunology.
