From STEMCELL Technologies, the Mouse IgG2b, kappa Isotype Control Antibody, Clone MPC-11 is an antibody designed for use as an isotype-matched control. The antibody has been verified for assessing non-specific binding to cells in applications including flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy, covering both surface and intracellular staining.

The MPC-11 clone (IgG2b, kappa) is intended to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. An appropriate isotype control should match the same heavy chain subclass and light chain type as the specific antibody being employed; if a conjugated antibody is used, an isotype control conjugated to the same molecule (e.g., fluorochrome) should be chosen. Use of an appropriate isotype control helps confirm the specificity of the antigen-specific antibody and indicates non-specific binding that may result from binding to Fc receptors or other cell components.

Available formats include unconjugated as well as Alexa Fluor 488, APC, Biotin, FITC, PE, and PerCP-Cy5.5 conjugates.
