miRCURY Power Family Inhibitors

From QIAGEN, the miRCURY LNA miRNA Family Power Inhibitors are predesigned sets of antisense oligonucleotides intended for miRNA functional studies and RNA Regulation applications. Each Power inhibitor is built on a fully phosphorothioate (PS) modified backbone, which makes the oligonucleotide highly resistant to enzymatic degradation and confers superior potency and greatly increased stability compared with the standard DNA/LNA mixmer inhibitors. Because of this stability, efficient inhibition of miRNA activity can be achieved by simple addition of the Power inhibitor directly to cell cultures, allowing the consequences of miRNA silencing to be studied without the confounding side effects associated with transfection reagents.

Once introduced into cells, the inhibitor sequesters its target miRNA in a highly stable heteroduplex, effectively preventing the miRNA from hybridizing with its normal cellular interaction partners. The sequences of the oligonucleotides and their LNA spiking patterns have been carefully designed to achieve uniform, high potency for all inhibitors in the family range, regardless of the GC-content of their target. This is accomplished by ensuring normalization of the melting temperature (T_m) around an optimal temperature while keeping the level of self-complementarity to a minimum.

These products are intended for molecular biology applications and are not intended for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of a disease. Unopened vials are shipped at room temperature and should be stored at –15 to –30°C or below.
