mericon Quant. Legionella spp Kit (96)

A quantitative real-time PCR assay from QIAGEN, the mericon Quant Legionella spp Kit is designed for the detection and quantification of Legionella subspecies. It belongs to the mericon Pathogen Detection product line, which is intended for molecular biology applications in food, animal feed, and pharmaceutical product testing; these products are not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.

The ready-to-use system relies on sequence-specific primers and probes together with an included internal control that flags PCR inhibitors and confirms run success. The supplied yellow mericon Assay contains the target-specific primers/probes and the internal control, and the kit additionally includes a red Positive Control DNA, QuantiTect Nucleic Acid Dilution Buffer, RNase-Free Water, a blue Multiplex PCR Master Mix (containing HotStarTaq Plus DNA Polymerase, the Q-Bond additive, and Factor MP), 50x ROX Dye Solution, and a Quick-Start Protocol.

Each mericon PCR Assay can detect down to 10 target copies in a reaction. The test sample is reported with FAM dye (495/520 nm) and the internal control with MAX NHS Ester reporter (524/557 nm). The Multiplex PCR Master Mix is highly tolerant to PCR inhibitors commonly found in food. Assays are shipped on dry ice; the Multiplex PCR Master Mix and 50x ROX Dye Solution should be stored at –20°C, with the other components kept at 2–8°C and protected from light. The assays are optimized for the Rotor-Gene Q and have been validated for block thermal cyclers.
