mericon E.coli O157 Screen Plus Kit (96)

A real-time PCR assay from QIAGEN designed for the qualitative detection of the E. coli serotype O157 and the E. coli virulence genes intimin (eae) and Shiga toxin-like proteins (stx1 and stx2). The presence of eae and stx1/stx2 indicates that further investigation into the E. coli O-serotype O157, or the non-O157 O-serotypes (O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, and O145), may be required in food and animal feed samples after enrichment.

Part of the mericon Pathogen Detection Assays suite within QIAGEN's food safety testing portfolio, the kit uses a unified real-time PCR protocol and includes an internal control to monitor for PCR inhibition. The assay detects as few as 10 copies of E. coli DNA per reaction and exhibits high specificity; no cross-reactivity was observed with other pathogens in tests using 2500 copies of tested DNA. Recommended sample preparation uses the mericon DNA Bacteria Kit for Gram-negative bacteria or the mericon DNA Bacteria Plus Kit for Gram-positive bacteria. Results are returned in 73 minutes on QIAGEN's Rotor-Gene Q, and the protocol is also validated for other block thermal cyclers. The product is labelled for RUO (Research Use Only) use.
