Designed for the extraction of high-quality DNA from microbial enrichment cultures and raw or processed foods, this QIAGEN kit uses a mechanical lysis protocol based on disruption with glass beads. It is particularly suited for difficult Gram-positive bacteria, such as Listeria spp.

Bacterial DNA is extracted from a bacterial enrichment culture, delivering a suspension suitable for real-time PCR pathogen detection. The chemistry maximises lysis efficiency, stabilises the extracted DNA and removes inhibitors that may interfere with downstream applications. The format is a microcentrifuge tube with glass beads, with a recommended sample amount of 1 ml culture and an elution volume of 100 µl.

The isolated, pure DNA is suitable for downstream applications such as real-time PCR ingredient authentication, pathogen detection or GMO DNA detection and quantification when used in conjunction with mericon PCR Assay Kits.
