QIAGEN offers a PCR-based assay designed for the specific detection of chicken (poultry) DNA in food, animal feed, and pharmaceutical products. The test supports species identification, traceability, and quality control applications, and is formulated with optimized primers, probes, and a master mix to deliver high specificity. The kit is supplied with internal and external controls and is compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments for streamlined testing. Following DNA extraction using QIAGEN's DNeasy mericon Food Kit, the real-time PCR protocol returns results in 73 minutes on the Rotor-Gene Q, and the protocol has also been validated for use on other thermal block cyclers. The assay exhibits high specificity for animal species DNA, with no cross-reactivity observed when tested against species using 2500 copies of tested DNA. Each assay can detect as few as 10 target copies of each target in a reaction. The product is designated for Research Use Only (RUO).
