MagAttract HMW DNA Kit (48)

From QIAGEN, this magnetic-bead-based kit enables reproducible isolation of high-molecular-weight genomic DNA from whole blood, fresh or frozen tissue, and Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria, with applications in next-generation sequencing (NGS), long-read sequencing, genotyping, and archiving. The workflow combines lyse, bind, wash, and elute steps, using gentle lysis conditions and bead-based binding chemistry that minimizes shearing to deliver pure DNA fragments recovered at >150 kb.

Sample inputs accommodate 200 µl of blood, up to 25 mg of tissue, or up to 2 x 10^9 bacterial cells, with elution in 100–200 µl of Buffer AE. Real-time PCR analysis confirmed effective removal of PCR inhibitors such as anticoagulants, enzymes, and divalent cations from EDTA-, heparin-, and citrate-stabilized blood. Magnetic-bead separation completes in <1 min, allowing up to 12 samples to be processed in parallel in approximately 70 minutes when used with the QIAGEN MagAttract Magnetic Rack or a compatible magnetic separation device on a standard laboratory shaker.

All kit components and buffers should be stored dry at room temperature (15–25°C) upon receipt and remain stable for up to 1 year under these conditions. Each lot is released under QIAGEN's ISO-certified Quality Management System. The kit is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease. Buffers AL, MB, and MW1 contain guanidine salts and must not be combined directly with bleach; spillage should be cleaned with laboratory detergent and water, followed by 1% (v/v) sodium hypochlorite if potentially infectious material is involved.
