Investigator Lyse&Spin Basket Kit (50)

From QIAGEN, the Investigator Lyse&Spin Basket Kit is intended for the lysis and filtration of forensic samples on solid substrates. The procedure accommodates swabs, pieces of fabric or leather, paper, cigarette butts, chewing gum, small tapes and similar sample types. By combining sample lysis with separation of solid substrates in one workflow, the kit eliminates the need for sample transfer to obtain a cleared lysate.

The baskets serve as a pre-treatment step in combination with manual or automated extraction kits such as the EZ1 DNA Investigator, QIAsymphony DNA Investigator or QIAamp DNA Investigator. During lysis, the basket retains the buffer; upon centrifugation on a standard benchtop system, holes in the bottom open and the lysate passes through into a 2 ml collection tube while solid particles remain trapped in the basket. All kit components are treated with ethylene oxide post-production.

The kit is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. The baskets are not recommended for differential fraction separation of sexual assault samples, as they are not designed for complete flow-through of sperm cells. Storage is at room temperature (15–25°C).
