Investigator ESSplex SE QS Kit (400)

The QIAGEN Investigator ESSplex SE QS Kit performs multiplex amplification of the European Standard Set (ESS), including SE33, together with Amelogenin. Using QIAGEN fast-cycling PCR technology, the kit simultaneously co-amplifies 16 STR markers and the gender-specific Amelogenin, as recommended by the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and the European DNA Profiling Group (EDNAP). A unique Quality Sensor (QS1 and QS2) is amplified in the same reaction, serving as an internal performance control that distinguishes successful PCR amplification, absence of DNA, degraded DNA, failed PCR amplification, and inhibited DNA, helping to avoid unnecessary PCR re-runs.

Each PCR uses a 25 µl volume with a BT5 matrix and five fluorescence labels: 6-FAM, BTG, BTY, BTR, and BTO. The markers distributed across these dyes include Amelogenin, TH01, D3S1358, vWA, D21S11, D16S539, D1S1656, D19S433, SE33, D10S1248, D22S1045, D12S391, D8S1179, D2S1338, D2S441, D18S51, and FGA. The Fast Reaction Mix 2.0 is based on proven QIAGEN multiplex PCR technology further optimized for direct amplification, and assay performance tests with increasing inhibitor concentrations showed superior inhibitor resistance. PCR amplification is completed in approximately 60 minutes. The kit was validated on the GeneAmp 9700 thermal cycler in standard mode together with the Applied Biosystems 3500 Genetic Analyzer, and is compatible with the ABI PRISM 3100/3100-Avant, Applied Biosystems 3130/3130xl, and Applied Biosystems 3500/3500xL Genetic Analyzers. Results can be analyzed with Applied Biosystems GeneMapper ID, GeneMapper ID-X, or Genotyper software. The kit meets ISO 18385 requirements and is highly sensitive, providing rapid and reliable results from trace DNA for all forensic applications and paternity testing.
