Investigator Argus Y-28 QS Kit (100)

Forensic, human identity, and paternity testing laboratories can use this QIAGEN multiplex assay for Y-chromosomal STR analysis. It simultaneously amplifies 27 Y-chromosomal short tandem repeat (STR) loci, including six rapidly mutating markers (DYS449, DYS481, DYS570, DYS576, DYS518, and DYS627) that support the resolution of paternal lineages and discrimination between closely related males. Two internal PCR controls (Quality Sensor QS1 and QS2) are included to provide information about PCR efficiency and the presence of inhibitors.

The assay utilizes QIAGEN's fast cycling PCR technology with inhibitor-resistant chemistry and was developed for reliable generation of male DNA profiles from male/female DNA mixtures without requiring differential lysis. Under standard conditions, the recommended DNA input is 0.5 ng; internal validations demonstrated robust and balanced results with 0.2–2 ng DNA and reliable results with <0.1 ng DNA. The standard reaction volume is 25 µl.

The kit meets ISO 18385 requirements and has been validated using the QIAamplifier, Applied Biosystems Veriti Thermal Cycler, and Applied Biosystems 3500/3500xL Genetic Analyzers. Components are shipped on dry ice and should be stored at −30 to −15°C; once opened, the kit may be stored at 2–8°C for a maximum of 6 months. The primer mix and allelic ladder should be stored protected from light.
