Forensic genotyping laboratories performing human identification, paternity testing, and DNA database entry rely on a PCR-based 26-locus STR multiplex from QIAGEN that co-amplifies the AMELOGENIN sex marker in a single reaction. The Quality Sensor (QS) component acts as an internal amplification control, signaling failed PCR or inhibition before samples are committed to capillary electrophoresis, which reduces rework on compromised casework extracts.

Optimized for high-throughput casework, the kit tolerates common inhibitors and supports direct amplification workflows from FTA cards and buccal swabs. Fluorescent dye labels are distributed across multiple dye channels, allowing clean separation on Applied Biosystems 3500, 3130, and 3730 capillary electrophoresis platforms. Recommended DNA input is in the range of 0.5 to 1 ng per PCR reaction, with a sample volume of approximately 20 ul, enabling reproducible allele calls even from low-yield or degraded extracts.

The kit format delivers 400 reactions supplied in a single master mix tube and accompanying primer pre-mix vial. All components are stored at -20 °C and protected from light, with the master mix stable through repeated freeze-thaw cycles when aliquoted. Workflow integration with QIAGEN Investigator template files for GeneMapper ID and ID-X supports direct allele assignment for CODIS, ESS, and supplementary loci commonly used in kinship and missing persons investigations.
