IDE1, 5 mg

A small molecule from STEMCELL Technologies, IDE1 (1-[2-[(2-carboxyphenyl)methylene]hydrazide]-heptanedioic acid) is an Activin/BMP/TGF-β pathway activator and inducer of definitive endoderm. It promotes differentiation of mouse or human embryonic stem (ES) cells by activating SMAD2 phosphorylation and NODAL expression, enabling generation of definitive endoderm in the absence of Activin A, NODAL, or feeder cells.

The compound (CAS 1160927-48-9) has the molecular formula C₁₅H₁₈N₂O₅ and a molecular weight of 306.3 g/mol. It is supplied as a crystalline solid with a purity of ≥ 95%. Reported solubility values are approximately 0.5 mg/mL in a 1:1 solution of DMF:PBS (pH 7.2), approximately 0.1 mg/mL in ethanol, approximately 25 mg/mL in DMSO, and approximately 30 mg/mL in DMF. Maximum working concentrations noted are ≤ 320 µM in absolute ethanol and ≤ 80 mM in DMSO. In mouse ES cells, SOX17 expression was induced at an EC₅₀ of 125 nM.

For storage, the product is stable at -20 °C as supplied and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light; it remains stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt. For use as a cell culture supplement, stock solutions should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use, and final DMSO concentration should be kept at or below 0.1% due to potential cell toxicity. According to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), the product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture, and is intended for research use only.
