Description

STEMCELL Technologies offers this research-use small molecule as an Activin/BMP/TGF-β pathway activator. IDE1 (Inducer of Definitive Endoderm 1) induces differentiation of mouse or human embryonic stem (ES) cells by activating SMAD2 phosphorylation and NODAL expression. At an EC₅₀ of 125 nM, SOX17 expression was induced in mouse ES cells, and the compound drives differentiation to definitive endoderm in the absence of Activin A, NODAL, or feeder cells.

The product is supplied as a crystalline solid with a reported purity of ≥ 95%. Its chemical name is 1-[2-[(2-carboxyphenyl)methylene]hydrazide]-heptanedioic acid (CAS 1160927-48-9), with a molecular formula of C₁₅H₁₈N₂O₅ and a molecular weight of 306.3 g/mol. Reported solubility limits are ≤ 320 µM in absolute ethanol and ≤ 80 mM in DMSO.

For storage, the compound should be kept at -20°C as supplied and protected from prolonged exposure to light; it remains stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt. The compound has low solubility in aqueous media, and for use as a cell culture supplement, the stock solution should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use. Final DMSO concentration should be kept below 0.1% to avoid potential cell toxicity.
