Hu Recom TNF-beta, 10 µg

A laboratory reagent consisting of Human Recombinant TNF-beta is supplied by STEMCELL Technologies Canada Inc., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The recombinant protein is presented as a solid and is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture according to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). No special protective equipment is required for routine handling, and according to the safety information the product contains no substances which at their given concentration are considered to be hazardous to health.

According to the manufacturer, the biological activity of the recombinant protein is tested by its ability to inhibit growth of mouse L929 cells in the presence of actinomycin D, with cell growth measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is less than 0.004 ng/mL. Purity has been assessed by resolving 2 μg of the protein with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions and visualizing by Coomassie Blue staining. TNF-beta is described as being involved in autoimmune disorders, lymph node development and as mediating the inflammatory demyelination process.
