Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this recombinant human protein is intended for laboratory research use only. TGF-beta 1 is involved in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, wound healing, and apoptosis, and it supports the culture of induced pluripotent stem cells. Also referred to as Cartilage-inducing factor, Differentiation inhibiting factor, LAP, Latency-associated peptide, TGFB1, TGF-beta-1, and Transforming growth factor β 1, the product is supplied as a solid powder.

The biological activity of Human Recombinant TGF-beta 1 was tested by its ability to inhibit IL-4-induced HT-2 cell proliferation, with cell proliferation measured after 2 days of culture using a fluorometric assay method; the EC50 in this assay was 0.17 ng/mL. High purity was confirmed by resolving 1 μg of the protein with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions, followed by visualization with Coomassie Blue staining.

According to the manufacturer's safety documentation, the product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).
