Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this laboratory reagent is a recombinant form of human platelet-derived growth factor CC (PDGF-CC). PDGF-CC functions as a mitogen for mesenchymal cells and is supplied as a solid powder intended for research use only; it is not for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic applications.

Bioactivity has been demonstrated by its ability to promote the proliferation of 3T3 cells, as measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50—the effective concentration at which proliferation reaches 50% of maximum—is less than 1 ng/mL in the reported example. The protein resolves with SDS-PAGE under both reducing and non-reducing conditions when visualized by Coomassie Blue staining, and it has a predicted molecular mass of 12.5 kDa.

According to the manufacturer's safety data sheet, the product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture under the GHS or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), is stable under normal conditions, and is not regulated for transport by DOT, TDG, MEX, ICAO (air), IATA, IMDG, RID, ADR, or ADN.
