Hu Recom PDGF-AB, 1000 µg

STEMCELL Technologies supplies a human recombinant platelet-derived growth factor AB (PDGF-AB) protein that is a heterodimeric glycoprotein composed of two disulfide bridge-stabilized polypeptide chains (A and B). It signals through the receptor tyrosine kinases PDGFR alpha and PDGFR beta and acts as a potent mitogen for cells of mesenchymal origin, including fibroblasts, glial cells, and vascular smooth muscle cells. The factor has also been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, glomerulonephritis, cancer, and in the contraction of vascular smooth muscle cells of rat aortic tissues.

The protein is expressed in E. coli and lyophilized from a sterile-filtered aqueous solution containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. It is a heterodimer of one 14.4 kDa alpha-chain and 12.4 kDa beta-chain with a predicted total molecular mass of 26.8 kDa. Purity is ≥ 95%. The specific activity is ≥ 5 x 10^4 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 20 ng/mL) as determined by a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells, with proliferation measured after 46 hours using a fluorometric assay method. The endotoxin level, measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis, is ≤ 1 EU/μg protein. The product should be stored at -20°C to -80°C and is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt.
