Hu Recom M-CSF, ACF, 1000 µg

Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this laboratory reagent is the Human Recombinant M-CSF, ACF. The cytokine is required for the maturation and activation of monocytes and macrophages and regulates inflammatory responses in conjunction with other stimuli.

Biological activity is assessed by the ability to promote the proliferation of NFS-60 cells, with proliferation measured after 62 hours of culture using a fluorometric assay. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the cytokine at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and in the cited example the EC50 is 3 ng/mL. The protein has also been analysed by SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions, with 1 μg resolved and visualised by Coomassie Blue staining.

The product is supplied as a solid powder and is not classified as hazardous under the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200); no special protective equipment is required under normal use, and it is stable under normal conditions. Recommended use is as a laboratory reagent, handled in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Intended research applications include the immunomagnetic negative isolation of untouched human monocytes directly from whole blood, work with primary human cells (frozen), and studies of macrophage colony-stimulating factor.
