Biological activity is validated by the ability to promote proliferation of TF-1 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and the EC50 for this effect is 0.09 ng/mL. Purity is assessed by SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions with visualization by Coomassie Blue staining, and the protein has a predicted molecular mass of 19.7 kDa.
