Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, this Human Recombinant IL-8 (CXCL8) is supplied as a laboratory reagent. IL-8 is described as a potent neutrophil chemoattractant in inflammation that activates neutrophils, inducing chemotaxis, exocytosis, and the respiratory burst.

The biological activity of the recombinant protein has been tested by its ability to mobilize Ca2+ in CHO-K1/Gα15/hCXCR1 cells (CHO-K1 cells stably expressing human Gα15 and human CXCR1), measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 in this assay is less than 0.15 μg/mL. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 8.9 kDa. In SDS-PAGE analysis, 2 μg of the product was resolved under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
