Recombinant human Interleukin-31 (IL-31) is a ~24 kDa cytokine secreted predominantly by activated CD4+ T helper type 2 (Th2) cells, with additional production reported from mast cells, dendritic cells, and keratinocytes. This lyophilized protein from STEMCELL Technologies is supplied at 500 µg per vial and is intended for research use only in immunology, inflammation, and dermatology laboratories investigating cytokine signaling.

IL-31 signals through a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL-31 receptor A (IL-31RA) and oncostatin M receptor β (OSMRβ), engaging JAK/STAT, MAPK, and PI3K cascades in target cells such as keratinocytes, epithelial cells, and sensory neurons. Investigators apply the recombinant protein to stimulate cultured cells, model pruritus and atopic dermatitis-like responses, and characterize Th2-driven inflammatory pathways in vitro.
