Hu Recom IL-3, ACF, 100 µg

A species-specific pleiotropic cytokine supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, Human Recombinant IL-3, ACF is provided as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research use. Interleukin-3 (IL-3) promotes the survival and proliferation of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells and lineage-committed progenitor cells and drives their differentiation into mature cells of most lineages, including basophils, neutrophils, eosinophils, macrophages, dendritic cells, erythrocytes, and megakaryocytes. The product is animal component-free.

IL-3 is produced by activated T cells and contributes to inflammation and allergies by promoting the secretion of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, IL-4, and IL-6 by basophils and eosinophils. The IL-3 receptor consists of a unique alpha subunit (CD123) and a beta common subunit (βc or CD131) that is shared with the receptors for IL-5 and GM-CSF, and ligand binding to the heterodimeric receptor activates the JAK/STAT, MAPK, and PI3K signaling pathways. The protein is reported as not showing activity on mouse cells.

The cytokine is expressed in E. coli and lyophilized from a sterile-filtered aqueous solution containing sodium phosphate and sodium chloride at pH 7.5. It has a predicted molecular mass of 15.2 kDa (UniProt accession P08700). Reported specifications include ≥ 95% purity and an endotoxin level of ≤ 1 EU/μg protein as measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis. Biological activity is determined by a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 cells, with an EC50 of ≤ 2 ng/mL and a specific activity of approximately 4.2 x 10^3 IU/µg calibrated against the human recombinant IL-3 WHO International Standard. The product is recommended for storage at -20°C to -80°C and is reported as stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. Alternative designations include HCGF, MCGF, Multi-CSF, and P-cell stimulation factor.
