Produced by STEMCELL Technologies, this bioactive cytokine promotes expression of antimicrobial peptides from epithelial cells, limiting bacterial infections [S1]. The recombinant human protein, also known as IL-TIF or Interleukin-22, has a predicted molecular mass of 16.9 kDa [S1].

Biological activity has been confirmed by its ability to induce IL-10 production in COLO 205 cells, with secretion quantified using a fluorometric assay and an EC50 of less than 1 ng/mL [S1]. For quality assessment, 2 μg of the recombinant was resolved by SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining [S1]. It is grouped with related immune signalling molecules including interferon-gamma, interleukin 10, and tumor necrosis factor alpha [S1].
