Hu Recom IL-15, ACF, 500 µg

A recombinant human cytokine from STEMCELL Technologies, this animal component-free preparation of Interleukin 15 (IL-15) is produced in E. coli and supplied as a lyophilized powder from a sterile-filtered solution containing sodium bicarbonate at pH 8.5. IL-15 is a four-alpha helix bundle cytokine with many properties similar to IL-2. The IL-15 receptor is a heterotrimeric receptor composed of IL-15Rα (the high-affinity receptor for IL-15), as well as IL-2/15Rβ (CD122) and the common gamma chain (CD132). IL-15 binds to IL-15Rα and can then be presented in trans to IL-2/15Rβ and the common gamma chain on other cells. The cytoplasmic domains of IL-2/15Rβ and the common gamma chain mediate signaling to activate JAK/STAT and PI3K pathways. IL-15 supports the survival and proliferation of naïve CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, promotes homeostasis of memory T cells, and also promotes the survival and differentiation of NK cells and regulates their cytolytic activity.

The specific activity is ≥ 1 x 10^6 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 1 ng/mL), as determined by a cell proliferation assay using CTLL-2 cells. Purity is ≥ 97%. The endotoxin level, measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis, is ≤ 0.1 EU/µg protein. The predicted molecular mass is 12.9 kDa. Store at -20 to -80°C. The product is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. Centrifuge the vial before opening and reconstitute in sterile water to at least 0.1 mg/mL by pipetting the solution down the sides of the vial; do not vortex. For research use only.
