Hu Recom IL-15, ACF, 1000 µg

A lyophilized cytokine preparation from STEMCELL Technologies, this animal component-free human recombinant interleukin-15 (IL-15) is supplied as a solid powder intended for use as a laboratory reagent. The protein is expressed in E. coli and has a predicted molecular mass of 12.9 kDa, with the product lyophilized from a sterile-filtered solution containing sodium bicarbonate at pH 8.5.

IL-15 is a four-alpha helix bundle cytokine with properties similar to IL-2. It binds to the high-affinity IL-15Rα receptor and signals through IL-2/15Rβ (CD122) and the common gamma chain (CD132), activating JAK/STAT and PI3K pathways. The cytokine supports the survival and proliferation of naïve CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, promotes homeostasis of memory T cells, and promotes the survival, differentiation, and cytolytic activity of NK cells. The specific activity is ≥ 1 x 10^6 units/mg as determined by a cell proliferation assay using CTLL-2 cells, with an EC50 ≤ 1 ng/mL. Purity is ≥ 97%, and endotoxin level is ≤ 0.1 EU/μg protein as measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis. The chemical is not considered hazardous by the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
