STEMCELL Technologies offers Human Recombinant IL-11, a cytokine that induces the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocytic progenitors, supports the maturation of megakaryocytes, and promotes the production of platelets.

Biological activity was assessed by the ability of Human Recombinant IL-11 to promote the proliferation of TF-1 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum; the EC50 in the reported example is 1.68 ng/mL.

When 1 μg of Human Recombinant IL-11 is resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualised by Coomassie Blue staining, the protein has a predicted molecular mass of 19.3 kDa but migrates to an apparent molecular mass of 23 kDa. The product is positioned for use in research areas associated with Interleukin 3, Interleukin 4, Interleukin 12, and Interleukin 15 workflows.
