STEMCELL Technologies produces Human Recombinant IL-1 alpha under animal component-free (ACF) conditions. This recombinant cytokine is a low molecular weight soluble protein produced by various cells in response to immunogens, mitogens, or other stimuli. It participates in the regulation of innate and adaptive immunity, hematopoiesis, cell growth, and the repair of damaged tissues.

The biological activity of Human Recombinant IL-1 alpha, ACF was determined by its ability to promote the proliferation of D10.G4.1 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is 7.7 pg/mL. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 18.0 kDa, demonstrated by SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
