Biological activity was assessed by the ability to induce alkaline phosphatase activity in CCL-226 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the signaling molecule at which alkaline phosphatase activity is at 50% of maximum, is less than 3 μg/mL. SDS-PAGE analysis with Coomassie Blue staining under reducing and non-reducing conditions indicated a predicted molecular mass of 19.7 kDa.
