Hu Recom IGFBP-4, 10 µg

Recombinant human insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4 (IGFBP-4) supplied by STEMCELL Technologies as a 10 µg single-use vial intended for research use only. This approximately 28 kDa secreted glycoprotein binds IGF-1 and IGF-2 with high affinity, modulating IGF receptor signaling and downstream effects on cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis in cell culture models.

IGFBP-4 is the smallest of the six classical IGF binding proteins and circulates in serum at higher concentrations than most other IGFBPs. Investigators use the recombinant form in vitro to neutralize IGF activity in serum-free media, to study IGFBP-4 proteolysis by pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), and as a Western blot or ELISA standard when quantifying endogenous IGFBP-4 in conditioned media or tissue lysates. It is also a useful reagent in cancer, bone biology, pregnancy, and cardiovascular research where altered IGFBP-4 expression and PAPP-A-mediated cleavage have been implicated.

The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in a buffer appropriate for the downstream application, aliquoted to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and stored at -20 °C or colder.
