Hu Recom IGF-II, 1000 µg

A recombinant human polypeptide supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-II) belongs to the family of insulin-like growth factors and is similar in molecular structure to proinsulin. IGF-II signals through the IGF-I receptor, activating the MAPK and PI3K pathways, and affects growth, differentiation, and survival of cells in a variety of tissues during embryonic development. It also stimulates the proliferation and migration of primary lymphatic endothelial cells and induces lymphangiogenesis.

Also referred to as Insulin-like growth factor II, Insulin-like growth factor type 2, Somatomedin A, and T3M-11-derived growth factor, the protein is expressed in E. coli and supplied as a lyophilized preparation from a sterile-filtered aqueous solution containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. It has a predicted molecular mass of 7.5 kDa and a purity of ≥ 95%. Biological activity is ≥ 1.7 x 10^5 units/mg, as determined by a cell proliferation assay using MCF-7 cells (EC50 ≤ 6 ng/mL). Endotoxin levels are ≤ 0.1 EU/μg protein, measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis.

For preparation, centrifuge the vial before opening and reconstitute in sterile water to at least 0.1 mg/mL by pipetting the solution down the sides of the vial; do not vortex. Optionally, dilute with concentrated bovine serum albumin (BSA) to a final BSA concentration of 0.1% for storage. Store at -20 to -80°C; the product is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. As a general guide, do not store at 2 - 8°C for more than 1 month or at -80°C for more than 3 months.
